Information Marketing
- You're the expert!
One of my specialties is
Information Marketing - positioning you as an expert, coordinating
and writing an educational campaign that teaches your prospects about your
field and presents you as someone not only knowledgeable, but friendly and
supportive.
For example:
-
A real estate lawyer who produced a series of
articles teaching the ins- and outs- of buying a home
-
A private
school administrator who produced a blog about educational topics
-
A doctor's web
page about alternative treatments and nutrition
-
An interior
designer who blogged about home decorating ideas
What is the benefit
off Information Marketing?
Information Marketing is about teaching and
sharing – not selling. This fits perfectly with today’s changing market.
The internet and the current economy have changed the way customers
approach purchasing decisions. Prospects are much more likely to use the
internet and social media to research not only the service or product they
need but also the companies providing it. They rely on their friends’ and
family’s recommendations. They read online reviews and comments.
By sharing your knowledge and teaching your
prospects (without giving away the farm), you place yourself in an
enviable position. Your prospective customers see you as knowledgeable,
experienced, and likeable. By avoiding the hard sell, you set the stage
for building those relationships that are vital in developing long-term
business. Your prospects will respect and appreciate you for sharing what
you know… and when they’re ready to buy, they will look favorably on you.
I’ve been using Information Marketing to market
myself and my clients for 20 years. In the past, I relied heavily on the
print media – newspapers and magazines – to get the word out. Today, the
internet makes this job much easier. Your website, blog, blogs by other
gurus, social networking sites, online news webites, etc. make it much
easier to get news to your prospective clients.
How does it work?
I work with you to create a series of
informational articles using you as an expert source. We then publish
these articles via your blog, news releases, social networking, and/or
traditional media. Information Marketing is not a one-shot deal - it is a
carefully crafted, ongoing process of marketing your business that creates
long-term benefits and results.
A well-written article or news release doesn't mean a thing if no one
reads it! I have extensive experience in media
relations, as well as writing. My services don't stop when the article is
completed. Click here to read
about some of my successes in media relations.
Relationship Marketing - Make friends
with your clients!
I also specialize in Relationship Marketing - building
and nurturing relationships with your clients. It costs 5-7 times as much
to gain a new client as it does to keep a current one, so...Make
Friends with your Clients! People like to do business with people they
like! When your clients like you, they are more loyal, AND they become a
great source for referrals.
-
It can take 18-24 months to break even on the cost of acquiring a new
customer.
A 2% customer retention rate is equivalent to cutting sales
costs by 10%.
~ Building Customer Loyalty, JoAnna Bandi
-
The probability of selling something to a prospective customer is
about 1 in 16. The probability of selling something to an existing
customer is 1 in 2. It takes an average of seven calls to close a
first sale, but just three calls to close a subsequent sale. ~ The
Marketing Resource Center
Information and
Relationship Marketing work very well together in a cohesive
campaign, although Relationship Marketing can include many additional
elements including more informal social networking, thank you notes, and
other personalized marketing efforts.
