I am very happy to greet the new year – 2010.
I have to admit that I’m not sorry to see 2009 go – it was one problem after another, finally ending in a way that sums up the year… my laptop computer was hit with a serious virus that invaded every program. After a visit to the computer doctor, we determined the only choice was to do a system restore back to factory settings, meaning four years of software, documents, and all the miscellaneous stuff you accumulate was gone. So, as I’m hunting for all my software CDs to reinstall, not in much of a rush because I still have my daughters’ desktop computer to use… guess what?! Last night, that computer was hit with the same virus – it’s unusable right now and will probably need a system restore as well. SO, other than getting on the internet with the laptop, I’m basically computer-less. I have most of my software CDs – still hunting for the Photoshop CD. I have the newest program, but it was an upgrade, so I still have to find the original program CD, which I haven’t seen in four years… so, ugh. The good news is that I keep my client image files on a separate external hard-dive, so, your images are safe! I just can’t do anything with them right now.
…but, I’m lumping that problem in to the 2009 category. I am starting fresh for 2010, and I’m starting with two new projects for the New Year!
1] The 365 Photography Project – this has been floating around the internet for a few years… basically, it’s just shooting an image every day. That sounds easy, but the EVERY day part trips some people up. For me, the goal will be an image for ME every day; client/work images won’t count. If you’d like to join me, I’ve started a Facebook group for the project – several of my students have already joined. If you’re interested, drop me an email!
2] The One Year Bible – www.oneyearbibleblog.com – I’m committed to reading the Bible this year. This blog makes it SO easy. They send you the daily readings; you can read it online in any translation.
Plus, I have the usual resolutions to deal with…
I have lots of fun ideas for my photography clients, so stay tuned for that. I’m scheduling a “Get to Know your Digital SLR” for this month – details coming soon. Next week, my classes at Extraordinary Education start up again – photography, creative writing, literature, grammar and writing lab, and government. I’m looking forward to seeing all my students after the break.
I’m headed out to Galveston today with my daughters and my mom. We’re going to stroll around the Seawall and The Strand, then head to Moody Gardens tonight for their Festival of Lights. Enjoy your day and “here’s to a Happy and Prosperous 2010 for us all!”
