Truth is, there is no wrong time! Call now, don't wait! Babies change so quickly, especially in their first year. You will never get this time back! A professional photograph is the absolute, best way to capture and preserve this special time. Each stage of your baby's growth offers something new and fun to capture in photographs. This web page tells a little more about these AGES & STAGES |

NEWBORN I actually had someone tell me that they wanted to wait until their baby was 3 or 4 months old to have portraits made, because "newborns are ugly" AAAAACCCCKKKK! I couldn't believe it! Sure, newborns don't have that sly grin or belly laugh that an older baby has, and maybe they don't have those lovable rolls that an older baby has. But, the first few weeks of life is when you should definitely have your baby's first portrait made! If this is your first baby, you will not believe how fast this time will go by. You will never believe that your baby's fingers and toes were SO tiny. When your six month old is sitting up, your nine month old is pulling up on the couch, and your one year old is taking his first steps, you will not believe that your baby was ever THIS small, THIS fragile. There's nothing as heart-warming as a portrait showing a new mother or father's love for that tiny little life. There's nothing as sweet as a sleeping newborn. So, don't wait! If you're pregnant, that's the best time to schedule your first session! |
![]() ![]() For newborn sessions, I come to your home. I bring a white backdrop and a black backdrop. I also have a few others -- pink, blue, etc. Even if you don't want a full "Mommy & Me" or "Daddy & Me" portrait, I will still want to use as a prop! I bring a bean bag, which is great for posing, but nothing beats Mommy & Daddy's arms for holding your baby! All I need from you is a room with a lot of natural, window light. I use natural light, because it is very flattering and doesn't scare your baby! If your house doesn't have a lot of windows, we can improvise. One of my favorite sessions was shot on the family's back (covered) porch. There was great light coming in around the porch! It was beautiful! Garages also work well if the sun is on the back side of the garage (away from the doors). For "Mommy & Me" and "Daddy & Me" images, I want to show how tiny your little one is in your arms, plus capture that wonderful emotion that you feel right now. |

3-4 Months |
|
This is the next stage of development in your baby's
first year. Portraits taken at this age focus on how much your baby has
changed in just a few months! Don't believe me? Check out these two sets
of images. The first is Baby Jake at two weeks old. The second is Baby
Jake, the next time I saw him at about 4 months. I'm using his Mommy
and Me images, so you'll believe that it's the same baby! :) Talk about a
big change!
|
| For this stage, I try to get great smiles! Your baby is just starting to show some personality, and I want the portraits to capture that (not just smiles). Your baby is usually starting to push up at this stage, so I try to get that as well. For Mommy & Me and Daddy & Me, I'm looking for a lot of interaction between you with response from your baby. Here are some more examples of this age group. |
